Teaching on “Non-thinking (Hishiro).
The teaching will focus on “Non-thinking” (Hishiro), one of the fundamental teachings of Dōgen Zenji and Keizan Zenji. The term appears in Dogen’s Fukanzazengi and Keizan’s Zazen Yojinki. It invites liberation from the captivity of thoughts, allowing one to fully immerse oneself in the present experience unhindered by the incessant flow of thoughts.
Through mindfulness of nonthinking, it opens the door to understanding the true nature of mind and realizing inner freedom that transcends the limitations of conceptual reflection. The teaching will explore the basic principles and practices for cultivating this perspective of nonthinking within the framework of zazen meditation and beyond.
